RUNNING OUT OF PEOPLE TO LOSE

Feelin’ unusually good for these days but it seems to be a passing phase

And I’m feelin’ strangely secure like I ain’t felt in years

but I think it’s just somethin’ I drank

Drinkin’ from a skull and cross bones, wipin’ fire on my sleeve

Belly on up to the bar boy and have a drink on me

And I heard some distressin’ news ‘bout ya doin’ those T’s and Blue’s

And I’m running out of people to lose

You laid perfectly still and didn’t utter a sound

as the life dripped from you to the ground

And we both knew it was the right thing to do

but it bothers me I don’t hurt more than I do

Now I carry my works in my socks and hide my eyes in the shade

See through disguises the bruises gave me away

And hatred taints all the things that I choose

And I’m running out of people to lose

It took all morning to put an edge on the day

and there seems to be no painless way

If someone don’t come along and fool me in time

I just ‘bout got the nerve to wave goodbye

And the ones that understood went long before me

And I’m just about alone enough to be the death of the breed

If I made a difference it seems of no use

And I’m running out of people to lose

And I’m running out of people to lose

And I’m running out of people to lose
